Pleased to meet you. My name is tom van den endert and i am an allround creative. i mostly work for the music industry as a designer, animator and illustrator. Besides that I run my own platform called Dreadlabs, where I teach you all about growing as a creative.
Dreadlabs is a creative hub that revolves around creatives from all kinds of practices. the goal is to unite creators from all over the world and spreading positivity by exploring aesthetics from darker perspectives.
What does Dreadlabs do?
Dreadlabs mainly provides tutorials for graphic designers, illustrators and music producers. I explain how to make certain effects in Photoshop, but I also give you tips on how to work as a freelancer in the creative industry.
Besides that, we have a Discord server where people can meet each other, teach each other things and ask for feedback.
On top of that we also sell assets & sample packs for designers and music producers on our website.
Where it started
It all started in my bedroom. Here I used to produce a lot of music and designed album covers, posters and more. I always dreamt of doing creative work as a profession, but I wasn’t sure wether I wanted to do music, design or fashion. That’s why I started Dreadlabs as a tool I could use to persue any of these creative practices.
I have been passionate about more than graphic design for my whole life. I used to produce music, i like (spray)painting, drawing and i love being involved in fashion projects.
Dreadlabs is a way for me to be involved in all those things while simultaneously connecting people with simular interests with eachother.
The Dreadlabs Storyworld
Late 2020, I did a Worldbuilding session together with the Dreadlabs community. During this livestream we made up the fictional story world of the Dreadlabs Universe.
The reason we made it is to use it for creative prompts. For example, we’re creating a clothing line inspired by various happenings in this fictional universe. Other than that it is the main subject of the Dreadlabs contests, visuals in tutorials and more.
Dread universe
Dread Universe is a clothing brand founded by Dreadlabs. The brand was created as part of a video series to give people insights about starting your own clothing brand.
Each collection of this brand will be based on the Dreadlabs Storyworld. This is a fictional universe the Dreadlabs community came up with during a livestream.
The storyworld takes place in the future, in the Andromeda Galaxy. Read all about it below. The first collection is based of the Cybernetic Sound Unit, a mech suit programmed to play at rave parties on planet Contra.
As part of the collection we created a 3D model of the suit, a blueprint showcasing all of the main capabilities of the C.S.U. and even a tour t-shirt. You can browse the collection at the Open Office event.

EVERY LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH WE HOST AN OPEN OFFICE SESSION WHERE EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN US FOR SOME DRINKS. THE GOAL OF THESE SESSIONS IS TO MEET UP WITH LIKE-MINDED CREATIVES AND HAVE A GOOD TIME.
